Our coursework covers topics such as OSHA training courses and risk management. In addition, we offer on-site safety professionals and safety design services for private and public sectors. Online Courses

OSHA TRAINING:

1.5-HR Worker Silica Fundamentals Training
On september 23, 2017, the Respirable Crystalline Silica Construction Standard, 29 CFR § 1926.1153 became enforceable. To be in compliance with this new regulation, workers need take the 1.5 Hour Worker Silica Fundamentals Training as well as employer provided on-site orientation. This new rule is predicted to save 600 lives and reduce the number of new silicosis cases by 900 per year.

10-HR OSHA Online Construction Course with Voice-Authentication
According to the NYC Department of Buildings, NYC Local Law 196 of 2017, states that only actively proctored, approved online schools or in-person training will be accepted for this course. We at Certified Site Safety of NY, LLC can provide you with a DISCOUNT CODE for the 10 Hour OSHA Online Construction Course with Voice-Authentication. This course is offered through an approved, online school, Click Safety.

30-HR OSHA Online Construction Course with Voice-Authentication
NYC Local Law 196 from 2017 applies to the 30 Hour OSHA course as well. This course will prepare Staten Island students with knowledge on construction site safety and prepare them to sit for the examination.

DOB TRAINING FOR NEW YORK JOB SITES:

4-HR Supported Scaffold User
Supported Scaffold Users and those who work on supported scaffold will learn how to operate safely in this 4 hour, in-person class. It will cover a basic overview of types of hazards workers might expect to encounter while using supported scaffolding. We will teach Staten Island workers the responsibility of users in accident prevention. Topics will include scaffolding inspections, spotting hazards, fall protection, and how to correctly respond to emergencies.

8-HR Site Safety Manager Coordinator

A comprehensive understanding of rules from several governing agencies is required to ensure the safety of all stakeholders while constructing new buildings. This course aims to educate Staten Island workers on the New York City Buildings Department code including Chapter 33, New York City Rules, and OSHA requirements so that pedestrians, occupants of adjacent properties, and workers themselves are safe in and around constructions sites. This truncated course contains some of the same information as our 40 hour Site Safety Manager Course.

8-HR Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover
With a hands-on education style, this 8 hour course is designed for Staten Island workers who would like to renew their NYC DOB 32 Hour Supported Scaffold Supervisor card or 8 Hour Supported Scaffold Installed & Remover Refresher card. Safely and correctly installing and removing supported scaffolding is the focus while scaffold user safety measures such as equipment inspection and fall prevention are also discussed.

8-HR Supported Scaffold Refresher
This refresher course will review the same safety measures discussed in the 4 Hour Supported Scaffold User course while also updating Staten Island students on any revisions to the building code. Logbooks, accident prevention, and public safety are all topics we will cover.

16-HR Suspended Scaffold User 
Our 16 Hour Suspended Scaffold User curriculum is designed with the safety of both Staten Island workers and the general public in mind. Suspended scaffold users will learn the New York City Department of Buildings code requirements for suspended scaffolding use. Together, we will learn the correct and safe way to build and use a variety of scaffolding and rigging by using hands-on demonstrations. Participants are encouraged to take ownership of their own safety by learning the proper scaffold inspection, hazard recognition, and fall protection techniques. Also covered in the class will be scaffolding emergency response.

32-HR Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover
To obtain a 32 Hour Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover picture ID card, Staten Island workers will need to complete this course. Among topics discussed will be OSHA regulations, DOB standards, and standard site safety procedures while installing, removing, or modifying supported scaffold in New York. Once completed, the picture ID card provided will be valid for 4 years.

32-HR Suspended Scaffold Supervisor
Staten Island workers who wish to apply for the New York City Master Rigger or New York City Special Rigger’s license will want to complete this 32 hour training along with superintendents and safety managers who supervise suspended scaffold projects. One year experience hoisting and rigging suspended scaffolding is advised for participation in the program. Workers will learn how to properly inspect and maintain their scaffold hoist motors, read scaffold design drawings, and evaluate the fitness of their rigging crew. Management techniques such as training workers on site safety and basic supervisory skills will also be addressed. Participants will learn of any changes in suspended scaffold standards to ensure they are working in compliance with local laws and regulations.

40-HR Site Safety Manager Course
This course provides a comprehensive analysis of construction site standards as set forth by The New York City Building Department, OSHA, and New York City Rules. These agencies have provided a framework for worksite safety which, when implemented correctly, will protect Staten Island workers in NYC, NYC residents, adjacent buildings to the worksite, and pedestrians. We will cover all of these regulations and how they impact the site safety of major buildings as deemed by The New York City Building Department.

OSHA TRAINING FOR NEW YORK JOB SITES:

4-HR Work Zone Traffic Safety: Flagger
This Work Zone Traffic Safety: Flagger course is designed to teach Staten Island flaggers New York City regulations in flagging. Flagging skills, coordination of traffic through worksites, and safety equipment will be covered in our discussions. Participants can expect to actively participate in the class via hands-on activities.

4-HR Confined Space Awareness
Staten Island workers will learn confined space safety skills in this course. Comprised of two 4 hour sessions, the class utilizes lectures, videos, and equipment demonstrations to educate students on topics such as personal fall arrest system usage and spotting potential hazards.

10-HR Construction Industry OSHA
Staten Island construction workers will become more knowledgeable about OSHA regulations when they complete this 10 Hour Construction Industry OSHA course. Topics covered will be the roles and responsibilities of accident avoidance by both workers and employers, the rights of workers, and the proper procedure for filing a complaint.

10-HR General Industry OSHA
This course is taught by an authorized Occupational Safety and Health Administration instructor and is required to be completed prior to working on sites as per The New York Department of Buildings regulations. Upon completion of this course, participants will be issued an OSHA card. Though the card does not expire, The New York Department of Buildings requires it to have been issued within 5 years for employment. The course covers a variety of general OSHA standards, including the OSHA Act Part 1910 industry procedures and safety regulations. Staten Island workers will be educated on their rights and responsibilities in workplace safety, what to expect from their employers, and how to file a complaint.

30-HR Construction Industry OSHA
The 30 Hour Construction Industry OSHA course is designed to provide detailed information to Staten Island workers in positions which need a thorough understanding of OSHA regulations to perform their duties. We offer a comprehensive look at the identification of common construction site health and safety hazards and learn how to avoid or prevent these hazards. Included in the discussion will be how specific construction materials and equipment relate to occupational health and safety. By the end of this course, students will be able to identify the OSHA standards as outlined in 29 CFR 1926 and create plans for hazard abatement and prevention. The basics of employer responsibilities, worker’s rights, and the proper process for filing a complaint will also be discussed. When completed, our OSHA authorized instructor will provide cards to participants verifying the requirements of the course were fulfilled. While these cards do not expire, The New York City Department of Buildings requires one to have been issued within 5 years prior to workers being allowed on work sites.

FDNY TRAINING FOR NEW YORK JOB SITES:

8-HR Construction Site Fire Safety Manager [S-56]
This 8 hour course is for workers who wish to be educated in a basic understanding of Fire Code and Fire Department Rules. We will cover the fire code construction site provisions, FC Chapter 14 and 3 RCNY Chapter 14, as well as Fire Department organization and terminology. Fire Safety requirements to be be taught in class are concepts such as fire safety plans, inspections and record keeping, fire extinguisher usage training, how to test fire protection equipment, and the requirements for hot work.

FIRST AID / CPR:

8-HR First Aid/ CPR with AED for Adults
Students of this course will learn the essential skill of properly performed CPR and AED usage in addition to other first aid practices. The 8 hour course meets all the requirements of OSHA Guidelines for First Aid Programs. With a combination of interactive videos, lectures, and hands-on activities, we will work through how to recognize and the treatment of specific medical conditions such as allergic reactions, asthma, breathing emergencies, cardiac arrest, stroke, seizures and shock. In addition, we’ll discuss how to respond to injuries involving major bleeding, head and neck injuries, broken bones, cuts, and bruising.
