The Respirable Crystalline Silica construction standard, 29 CFR § 1926.1153, became enforceable on September 23, 2017. OSHA estimates that the rule will help to avoid over 900 additional cases of silicosis year over year. In addition this new measure is expected to prevent over 600 deaths once the effect of the new rule is fully realized. This training class, in cooperation with site specific employer details provided at onsite orientation fulfills the worker training requirements of the new standard.

10-HR OSHA Online Construction Course with Voice-Authentication
Pursuant to NYC Local Law 196 of 2017, only in-person training and actively proctored online training will be accepted, according to the NYC Department of Buildings. Certified Site Safety of NY, LLC offers a DISCOUNT CODE for the 10-HR Construction Online Course with Voice- Authentication provided by Click Safety. Click Safety is an approved online school for those working in Mount Vernon.

30-HR OSHA Online Construction Course with Voice-Authentication
The 30-HR OSHA Online Construction courses follows restrictions placed by the same NYC Local Law 196 from 2017. The 30-HR OSHA course prepares Mount Vernon students for the mandated examination test, and informs students of safety measures required on construction sites.

4-HR Supported Scaffold User
The 4 hour Supported Scaffold User Course is designed for those who work or use scaffolding in Mount Vernon. This course objectively outlines the hazards of supported scaffolding, and explains the basic elements of supported scaffold safety. This course emphasizes the roles of the scaffold user, and how this role is fundamental in accident prevention. This includes recognizing hazards, emergency response, accident prevention, fall prevention, and scaffolding inspection.

8-HR Site Safety Manager Coordinator
The 8 hour Site Safety Coordinator Course is a shortened version of the traditional 40 hour Site Safety Manager Course. This course is an in-depth review of Chapter 33 and the Rules of Mount Vernon as it pertains to public protection. This course is intended to provide training with regards to major buildings that may be classified by the New York City building department. This program places an emphasis on safety to workers within the job site with regard to OSHA requirements. The goal of this course is to provide participants with knowledge of the code requirements of the Mount Vernon Buildings Department, Mount Vernon Rules, to provide Pedestrians, Adjacent Buildings and Worker with safe work environment both in and around construction sites.

8-HR Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover
The 8 hour Supported Scaffold Installed & Remover Course is designed for individuals who hold a NYC DOB 32 hr. Supported Scaffold Supervisor card or 8 hr. Supported Scaffold Installed & Remover Refresher card, who wish to renew their certification. This course provides in-depth education into safety procedures including safe removal of scaffolding equipment and proper scaffolding installation. This program is hands on, and during the course emphasis is placed on the role of the scaffold user in accident prevention, which includes scaffold inspections, fall protection, recognizing hazards, and responding to emergencies on Mount Vernon job sites.

8-HR Supported Scaffold Refresher
This course focuses on the importance protection of workers and the public onsite, and safety. The course will encourage Students to review necessary actions to perform to ensure public safety, accident prevention, the importance of maintaining logbooks and review revisions to Building Codes.

16-HR Suspended Scaffold User
This course is a 16 hour Suspended Scaffold User Course that is intended to prepare workers for working on suspended scaffold. Participants of this course will learn about the various code requirement set forth by the Mount Vernon Department of Buildings. In addition, the program will outline the rules and regulations of proper and safe usage of suspended scaffold equipment. The course will rely on hands-on activities and demonstrations of various rigging and scaffolding applications. Emphasis in this course is placed on the role of the scaffold user in accident prevention, which includes fall protection, recognizing hazards, scaffold inspections, and responding to emergencies on a Mount Vernon job site.

32-HR Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover
This course focuses in on DOB standards and good work practice as a guide. It covers different types of supported scaffolds using OSHA regulations and upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a 32 Hour Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover course completion picture ID card. This ID card will be valid for 4 years.

32-HR Suspended Scaffold Supervisor
The 32- HR Suspended Scaffold Supervisor Course is made for experienced laborers who require supervision of suspended scaffold projects. To participate in this program, individuals must have at least one year of practical experience in hoisting and rigging is a prerequisite. This course provides students with a hands-on approach to efficiently manage supervising suspending scaffold systems. Throughout the course standards will be reviewed. Students will learn how to properly train employees on work hazards and verify fitness of crew. Safety managers, supers, and individuals in Mount Vernon who are planning to apply for New York City Master or Special Riggers license will experience the most benefit from participation in this course.

40-HR Site Safety Manager Course
In this course, we review Chapter 33 and Rules of the City of New York that relate to public protection in the midst of construction. This course is optimized to provide advanced training for construction on major buildings that are approved by the New York City Building Department per OSHA requirements. This will benefit workers on site, at the neighboring sites, as well as pedestrians. The objective of this training class is to provide participants with knowledge of Mount Vernon City Rules, the code requirements of the New York City Buildings Department, to provide pedestrians, nearby businesses and workers with a safe work environment in and around construction sites.

OSHA TRAINING FOR MOUNT VERNON JOB SITES:

4-HR Work Zone Traffic Safety: Flagger
This course trains participants in safe flagging techniques specific to Mount Vernon regulations. This course will run participants through a comprehensive course that outlines the flagging procedures and proper use of required equipment. In addition, this course will provide an in-depth review of flagging skills, and elaborates on proper coordination of traffic movement through your Mount Vernon work zone. This course is designed with hands-on training to classroom activities.

4-HR Confined Space Awareness
The 4-HR Confined Space Awareness class includes two four hour lectures. In addition, this course offers demonstrations of equipment used when working in confined spaces, (personal fall arrest systems used on construction sites), and videos. Participants in the course will learn how to use fall protection as well as equipment hazard identification concerning confined spaces in their Mount Vernon worksite.

10-HR Construction Industry OSHA
This class was created to make workers more educated on possible workplace hazards, as well as their rights. Course Material includes the following: The part of the user in hazard recognition and avoidance, how to file a complaint, workers’ rights, and employer responsibilities.

10-HR General Industry OSHA
This OSHA course provides workers in the construction industry (manufacturing, warehousing, job supervisors, inspectors, and foreman) with best practices to prevent hazards in the workplace. Participants will leave the course with an understanding of OSHA standards and procedures. Safety covered in OSHA Act Part 1910 and General industry procedures will also be included in the course work. When students complete the course, they will be issued a 10 Hour General OSHA Industry Course card, but please note as per the New York City Department of Buildings, the card must have been issued within the past 5 years in order to work on any site. Additionally, course materials include information pertaining to workers’ rights, how to file a complaint and employer’s responsibilities. The 10-HR general Industry OSHA class is administered by an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorized instructor.

30-HR Construction Industry OSHA
This OSHA course is taught by an instructor that has been authorized by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and students that complete the course will receive a card acknowledging that they completed. These cards never expire, however in order to work on any site the card must have been issued in the last 5 years, per the New York City Department of Buildings. The class is designed for supervisors, foreman, or workers with a focus on occupational health and safety standards. The course offers elaborate training on the avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards on construction worksites. The course also provides participants information on how to file a complaint, workers’ rights, and employer responsibilities. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to identify OSHA standards in 29 CFR 1926, identify various construction processes, materials and equipment, indicate common causes of accidents and fatalities in hazardous areas of construction, and recommend various steps to address such hazards.

FDNY TRAINING FOR MOUNT VERNON JOB SITES:

8-HR Construction Site Fire Safety Manager [S-56]
This introductory course to Fire Code and Fire Department Rules, including their terminology, organization, all construction site fire safety requirements, and fire code construction site provisions (FC Chapter 14 and 3 RCNY Chapter 14). The class covers the following: review of fire safety plans, fire extinguishers training, inspections and record keeping, hot work requirements and procedures for testing fire protection equipment.

FIRST AID / CPR:

8-HR First Aid/ CPR with AED for Adults
The course work for the 8-HR First Aid/CPR with AED for Adults is a mixture of hands-on training to teach participants lifesaving skills, lectures, and interactive video demonstrations. The course allows participants to increase their understanding of basic treatment and recognition for medical conditions such as: cardiac arrest, shock, seizures, stroke, allergic reactions, and Asthma. Course work will cover how to perform CPR and include instruction how to address breathing and cardiac emergencies. Participants in the course will be able to identify and help with head injuries, broken bones, cuts and bruises, major bleeding and neck injuries.
