Online Courses
OSHA TRAINING:
1.5-HR Worker Silica Fundamentals Training
The Respirable Crystalline Silica construction standard, 29 CFR § 1926.1153, became enforceable on September 23, 2017. To comply with this new rule, Long Island workers will need to complete the 1.5-HR Worker Silica Fundamentals Training course as well as the on-site orientation offered by their employers. OSHA has predicted that the new standard will eliminate 600 deaths a year and 900 new cases of silicosis.
10-HR OSHA Online Construction Course with Voice-Authentication
Pursuant to NYC Local Law 196 of 2017, only in-person training and actively proctored online training will be accepted, according to the NYC Department of Buildings. Certified Site Safety of NY, LLC can provide you with a DISCOUNT CODE for the 10 Hour Construction Online Course with Voice-Authentication provided by Click Safety, an approved online school.
30-HR OSHA Online Construction Course with Voice-Authentication
The 30 Hour OSHA Online Construction course also compiles with NYC Local Law 196 from 2017. This 30 Hour OSHA Online Construction Course will prepare Long Island students to practice construction site safety and take the OSHA test.
In-Person Courses
DOB TRAINING FOR NEW YORK JOB SITES:
4-HR Supported Scaffold User
Long Island professionals whose work requires the use of supported scaffolding should complete the 4 Hour Supported Scaffold User Course. This course introduces workers to the basics of scaffold safety. We also cover the importance of accident prevention. This will include topics such as scaffold inspections, fall protection, recognizing hazards, and properly responding to emergencies.
8-HR Site Safety Manager Coordinator
The 8 Hour Site Safety Coordinator Course will give Long Island workers an understanding of multiple rules and regulations for construction sites in NYC. Covering the New York City Buildings Department code, including Chapter 33, New York City Rules, and OSHA requirements, we will discuss how to protect not only the public, but workers, on sites deemed major buildings by the New York City Buildings Department. Specific regulations designed to protect pedestrians and adjacent properties will also be discussed. This course is a shorter version of the 40 Hour Site Safety Manager Course.
8-HR Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover
Long Island workers who would like to renew their NYC DOB 32 hr. Supported Scaffold Supervisor card or 8 Hour Supported Scaffold Installed & Remover Refresher card should take the 8 Hour Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover Course. In this course, we will discuss the proper installation and removal of supported scaffolding using a hands-on approach. Also covered will be the importance of scaffold user accident prevention, where various methods of ensuring safety will be discussed.
8-HR Supported Scaffold Refresher
Students of this course will learn any updates to building codes as well as a review of important safety measures. The goal is for Long Island workers to learn how to keep workers as well as the public safe while using supported scaffolding by using methods outlined in the scaffold user course. We will also discuss logbook maintenance.
16-HR Suspended Scaffold User
Attendees will learn all the basics of suspended scaffold accident prevention in this 16 Hour class. How to properly build, inspect, and use various scaffolding and rigging will be discussed in addition to safety measures such as fall prevention and emergency response. Students will learn how to keep both workers and the public safe by complying with New York City Department of Buildings rules and regulations and will actively participate in the demonstration of these skills.
32-HR Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover
Long Island workers can obtain their 32 Hour Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover picture ID card by completing this course. This course will teach workers OSHA regulations and DOB standards to ensure worksite safety while installing or removing supported scaffolding in New York. Certification is for 4 years after the date of successful completion.
32-HR Suspended Scaffold Supervisor
This course is designed specifically for Long Island workers with experience hoisting and rigging who will be required to supervise suspended scaffold projects. A minimum of one year experience is advised. New York City Master Rigger and Special Rigger license applicants, safety managers, and superintendents will benefit from the completion of this course. Among topics covered are policy education where we will discuss any recent changes and the best practices for suspended scaffold projects, management and supervisory skills, and practical scaffolding concepts. Students will learn to read a scaffold design drawing, inspect a hoist motor, maintain their hoist motors, and evaluate their crew’s fitness for suspended scaffold work.
40-HR Site Safety Manager Course
A more in-depth course than our 8 Hour Site Safety Manager Coordinator course, this curriculum delves into Chapter 33 of the New York City Rules which ensure public safety during construction of major buildings as deemed by The New York City Building Department. Safety of workers, adjoining properties, and pedestrians are all covered in this 40 hour course which covers regulations from OSHA, New York City Rules, and The New York City Building Department. Long Island workers will learn the importance of worksite safety for all stakeholders involved.
OSHA TRAINING FOR NEW YORK JOB SITES:
4-HR Work Zone Traffic Safety: Flagger
Safe flagging as outlined in New York City regulations will be taught in this class. Long Island workers will learn how to use safety equipment, flagging skills, and the correct techniques to keep traffic flowing through worksites. Flagging procedures are taught via hands-on and in-class activities, so students should expect to be actively engaged in their education.
4-HR Confined Space Awareness
Comprised of two 4 hour sessions of lectures, videos, and equipment demonstrations, this class will teach Long Island participants to recognize hazards while working within confined spaces as well as how to use fall protection equipment such as fall arrest systems.
10-HR Construction Industry OSHA
The 10 Hour OSHA Construction Training Class is for Long Island construction workers interested in learning in more detail the OSHA regulations of their industry. Covered in this class will be workplace hazard recognition, worker and employer responsibilities, worker rights, and how to file complaints if the need should arise.
10-HR General Industry OSHA
Taught by an authorized Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) teacher, our 10 Hour General Industry OSHA course teaches general standards, policies, and procedures pertaining to a range of industry professionals. Included in these standards are those set forth in OSHA Act Part 1910. Long Island workers will learn what their rights are, the responsibilities of their employers, and how to file complaints. Upon completion, students will earn an OSHA assigned card. Though these cards never expire, New York City Department of Buildings states that to work on any site, this card must have been issued within 5 years. Those interested in taking this course may include general industry employee workers such as foremen, job supervisors, inspectors, and those employed in warehousing and manufacturing.
30-HR Construction Industry OSHA
Staten Island foremen, supervisors, and workers whose duties require a comprehensive understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations should register for the 30 Hour Construction Industry OSHA course. This course is tailored to these positions and offers an in-depth analysis of common construction health and safety issues and how to avoid or prevent them. Included in this curriculum is the ability to recognize the inherent hazards of various construction equipment, materials, and processes and how to combat those to provide a safe working environment. By the end of this course, Staten Island workers will be able to identify OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards, create action plans to recognize and abate potential hazards, and will understand the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers as outlined in OSHA regulations, as well as how to file a complaint. Participants in this course will earn a 30 Hour Construction Industry OSHA completion card issued by our OSHA approved instructor. While these cards never expire, workers in NYC will need to have completed this course within 5 years prior to working on any job site as per The New York Department of Buildings mandate.
FDNY TRAINING FOR NEW YORK JOB SITES:
8-HR Construction Site Fire Safety Manager [S-56]
This course provides a variety of information on fire safety for the Long Island worker. Included in the topics of discussion for this 8 hour course are: fire safety plans, inspections, record keeping, fire extinguisher training, and how to test fire protection equipment. Also discussed will be an overview of the Fire Code and Fire Department Rules. We will cover FC Chapter 14 and 3 RCNY Chapter 14, the fire code site provisions, and ensure that students are able to understand Fire Department organization and terminology in this course.
FIRST AID / CPR:
8-HR First Aid/ CPR with AED for Adults
This course fulfills the requirements of OSHA Guidelines for First Aid Programs. We combine a variety of teaching methods including interactive videos, lectures, and active class participation. Students of this class will learn CPR along with other life saving first aid skills. We will teach participants how to recognize and treat various medical conditions such as allergic reactions, asthma, cardiac arrest, stroke, seizures, and shock. Proper CPR technique will be covered in detail. Injuries such as major bleeding, neck and head injuries, broken bones, cuts, and bruises and their treatment will also be addressed.
