March 4-10 is Women in Construction (WIC) week, a week highlighting women as a visible component of the construction industry. It is also a week dedicated to raising awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry.
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) invites local chapters to give back to their communities. Thousands of their members across the US and abroad will be participating and local chapters will be celebrating with community service projects, job-site tours, membership drives, hands-on workshop, school programs and other activities. Local chapters also appeal to their local, state and national representatives to issue WIC Week proclamations.
NAWIC’s president Connie M. Leipard, CCIT, said in a news release “Women work in every facet of construction in critically important roles. This increased visibility will promote the recruitment of more women and encourage others to start careers in construction. This will ultimately ease the workforce shortage in the industry.”
At Certified Site Safety, we offer our support of Women in Construction Week and applaud the efforts of women in the industry.
