Who needs to take the training?
Here in New York, laws require that Construction Superintendents, Site Safety Coordinators, and Site Safety Managers for both construction as well as demolition sites and any and all workers on these same job sites must complete a minimum of 40 hours of safety training. Further, all workers on these sites must have a Site Safety, Training Card.
Requirements for Site Safety Training Providers
Here in New York per 1 RCNY §105-03, the team here at Certified Site Safety of NY, LLC must comply with specific course requirements in our efforts to provide appropriate safety training to those in need. Requirements include:
- How Courses Will Be Delivered – Training can be conducted either in-person or online. With our online courses, we are required to confirm an individual’s identifications with their individual attestation that they are the person requesting the online program and will be the individual completing the training without any additional assistance from others. We must obtain this information in advance of providing access to our online training. Further, we must provide secure access to the training and monitor individual participation, ensuring that the identified person is present throughout the entire training sessions.
- Issuance of SST Cards – Once the course is completed, the team here at Certified Site Safety of NY, LLC will issue the appropriate Site Safety Training Card whether a standard SST Card, a Temporary SST Card, a Limited SST Card or a Supervisor SST card. Each card issued must include specific information as well as security features. Such specific data includes document security features that are designed to alleviate acts of counterfeiting or forgery as well as help to detect fraudulent cards. The cards issued are not able to be reproduced in any way. In addition, each card will have a unique ID number along with a photo ID of the recipient as well as the printed name and signature, course completion date, an expiration date, and Certified Site Safety’s name and address as the company issuing the card.
- Perform Adequate Record-Keeping – Once SST cards are issued, it is the responsibility of the team here in Certified Site Safety to maintain adequate records of all training performed and completed and all SST cards that are issued. We are required to keep an online verification system that is completely secure and contains pertinent information such as cardholders’ names, dates of issuance, ID numbers, and expiration dates. These records are made available to the City, the Building Department, and to contractors so as to provide confirmation of individual cardholders who have successfully completed the site safety training and courses. This information must be provided on a quarterly basis to the Department of Building.
