How Do You Qualify As a Qualified Person For Site Safety?

 

Step 1
Completed the orientation and training required by section 3310.10 of the building code. All workers employed at a major building site shall have successfully completed, within the previous five calendar years, a course that is at least 10hrs in length and approved by the united states department of labor occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) in construction industry safety, or by the commissioner covering substantially the same material

Step 2
Completed a department approved site safety manager training course that is at least 40hrs in length, and every three years thereafter, complete a department approve site safety manager refresher course that is at 7hrs in length

Step 3
Completed training require by section 3314.4.5.1 of the building code for supported scaffold installers. Workers who install, adjust, repair, maintain, inspect or remove a supported scaffold that is 40 feet (12 192 mm) or more in height, including the person supervising such, shall, at a minimum, have completed a department approved training program or course that is at least 32hrs long and shall complete a department approved 8hr refresher program or course every 4yrs thereafter. Workers who install, adjust, repair, maintain, or remove a sidewalk shed that provides a base for a supported scaffold that is 40 feet (12 192 MM) or more in height, including the person supervising such, are subject to the above requirements

Step 4
Compete the training required by section 3314.4.5.3 of the building code for suspended scaffold supervisors. Individuals who exercise supervisory responsibility in accordance with the requirements of sections 3313.4.1 through 3313.4.4 for the installation, adjustment, repair, maintenance, use or removal of a suspended scaffold shall, at a minimum have completed a department approved training program or course that is at least 32 hours long, and four years following completion of the 32 hour program OR course, and every four years thereafter, complete  a department approved 8 hour refresher program or course.

Step 5
Completed a course that is at least 30 hours in length and approved by the United States Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in construction industry safety and health.

Step 6
If the qualified person is not a licensed rigger or a rigging foreman, be approved by the primary site safety manager.
