16 Hour Suspended Scaffold User Training Course
As per section 3314.4.5.4 of the New York City Construction Codes, this course is required for workers working on suspended scaffolds in New York City. This training is required every 4 years.

Course Description
The 16 hour Suspended Scaffold User Course is designed for individuals who will be working on a suspended scaffold. Participants will gain the knowledge of the code requirements for New York City Department of Buildings and the rules and regulations for the safe and proper usage of suspended scaffold equipment. Participants will participate in hands-on demonstrations in which they will present, building, and use various scaffolding and rigging applications. During the course emphasis is placed on the role of the scaffold user in accident prevention, which includes scaffold inspections, fall protection, recognizing hazards, and responding to emergencies.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge on the different criteria for suspended scaffold.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of installing and removing suspended scaffold components.
- Identify the hazards associated with electricity, falling objects and how to use PPE and other equipment to avoid falls in general.
- Demonstrate ability to building and using various scaffolding and rigging application; apply rope knots, terminating wire rope, operate scaffold hoist motor, etc.
- Outline New York City Building Code suspended scaffold safety requirements.
- Understand the rigging equipment and techniques for the safe operations.
- Identify pre-start up inspections as well as shut down and emergency procedures.
- Understand the importance of notification of scaffold accidents and follow the procedure in case of a scaffold accident in the City of New York.
To receive a certificate/card for the course, students must:
- Be able to clearly communicate with the instructor and complete all paperwork in the language the course is delivered.
- Complete all required paperwork: registration, evaluation, attendance, etc.
- Attend all required hours of the course.
- Actively participate during class activities and reviews.
- Complete tests with a passing grade of 70%.
- A wallet ID card with picture will be issued directly to participant within 10 business days of successful completion of course.
