Description
Course required for SST Supervisor card.
Students will encompass the basic principles of supported scaffold and it components. This is an awareness class only, therefore no 4 hour Supported Scaffold User & Refresher card will be given for this SST class.
Topics Covered
- * Types of Supported Scaffolds and the major components
- * Understanding accidents and the common courses of them. Hazards, inspection, and safety of scaffolds.
- * Overview of OSHA standards on PPE, scaffolds, fall protection
- * Overview of NYC Construction Codes including Title 1 Rules of the City of New York, Building Codes, Chapter 33
- * Fall Protection Principles, fall clearance, guarding against falling objects, fall distance calculations, maximum intended load handling
- * PPE and Fall Arrest Systems, safe use of tools
Objective/Learning Outcomes
- * Can identify the types of scaffolds and its components
- * Describe the types of fall protection needed when working on a scaffold
- * How to properly wear PPE and the mandatory inspections of the scaffold and equipment
- * Recognize and understand the permit requirements stipulated by the Building Code
- * Utilize the safety work practices at their construction sites
