Description
To use or work on a supported scaffold in NYC an individual must complete this course.
The class will encompass the basic principles of supported scaffold and its components.
Topics Covered
- * Types of Supported Scaffolds and the major components
- * Common causes and the prevention of accidents and hazards
- * Overview of OSHA standards on PPE, scaffolds, fall protection
- * Overview of NYC Construction Codes including Title 1 Rules of the City of New York, Building Codes, Chapter 33
- * Inspections, Fall Protection Principles, fall clearance, guarding against falling objects, fall distance calculations, maximum intended load handling
- * PPE and Fall Arrest Systems, safe use of tools
Objective/Learning Outcomes
- * Can identify the types of scaffolds and its components
- * Describe the types of fall protection needed when working on a scaffold
- * How to properly wear PPE and the mandatory inspections of the scaffold and equipment
- * Recognize and understand the permit requirements stipulated by the NYC Building Code
- * Utilize the safety work practices at their construction sites
