The 30 Hour OSHA Construction class is more appropriate for field supervisors, foreman or workers in the construction industry with the safety responsibility affiliated with a project job site.

Prerequisites

Student must be able to communicate with the instructor in the language the course is held in. Valid photo ID required.

Course Description

The 30 hour OSHA class is more appropriate for supervisors, foreman or workers with more focus on various occupational safety and health standards. It provides more in-depth training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in the construction industry. It also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. Course participants can expect to be able to locate and identify OSHA standards in 29 CFR 1926; identify common causes of accidents and fatalities in hazardous areas of construction; recommend abatement techniques for such hazards; and recognize various construction processes, materials and equipment.
 The course is taught by an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorized instructor. Students receive a card acknowledging they have completed the class. OSHA cards do not expire. However, as per the New York City Department of Buildings, the card must have been issued within the past 5 years in order to work on any site.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Recognize worker rights and employer responsibilities under OSHA.
  2. Discuss OSHA standards and procedures such as inspections and filing complaints.
  3. Identify major hazards that are predominant when using stairways and ladders on construction site
  4. Define methods of controlling four main health hazards that construction worker may be exposed to
  5. Identify ways to select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and life saving equipment
  6. Identify major focus four hazards and describe ways to prevent worker’s exposure
  7. Explain risks associated with unsafe use of scaffolding equipment on construction site
  8. Identify what the responsibilities are for both employers and employees.
  9. Identify common health hazards found in construction.
  10. Use protection from industrial hygiene and toxicology.
  11. Learn for recall the procedures on how to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control health hazards in construction.
  12. Recognize respiratory protection program.
  13. Recognize hearing program.
  14. Learn for recall hazard communication program for construction.

To receive a certificate/card for the course, students must:
